Charlie Kirk, 31, died from a gunshot wound while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, during a Turning Point USA event named “American Comeback Tour.”The shooting happened about twenty minutes into his talk, under a tent in the campus courtyard.
Authorities believe the shot was fired from the roof of the Losee Center, a campus building some distance from the event stage. After the shooting, law enforcement launched a manhunt. Images of a person of interest were released, and surveillance footage showed someone fleeing from the roof. Public figures from across the political spectrum expressed shock and condemned the violence. President Donald Trump announced flags would be flown at half-staff in Kirk’s honor, and said he would posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
